Gezin Holiday in the Zillertal – Tips for All Ages

The Zillertal is made for family holidays. As a mother of two and family travel expert, I know: everything just works here – from child-friendly hiking trails to exciting adventure parks and excellently organised ski schools. Here are my tried-and-tested tips for an unforgettable family holiday.

Child-Friendly Hikes

The Spieljoch Gezin Park in Fügen is a paradise for little explorers. After a short gondola ride, children find a huge adventure playground with water play area, climbing facilities and barefoot trail. The hiking paths are pushchair-friendly and lead through blooming alpine meadows. At the Fichtenschloss (Spruce Castle) on the Rosenalm in Zell am Ziller, children can play in an oversized treehouse – a highlight for 3 to 10-year-olds.

Ski School and Winter Fun

Zillertal ski schools enjoy an excellent reputation. At the Zell am Ziller ski school area, children from age 3 learn to ski through play – with magic carpets, children's carousels and plenty of patience from the instructors. After the lesson, the Gerlosstein toboggan run awaits – 7 km of sledging fun that excites adults too.

Rainy Day Activities

Even in the rain, boredom is impossible in the Zillertal. The Mayrhofen adventure pool with slides, wave pool and children's pool is perfect for rainy days. The Erlebnis-Sennerei offers interactive exhibitions about milk and cheese, and at the Gold Mine in Zell am Ziller, little treasure hunters can pan for gold themselves.

Gezin-Friendly Accommodation

Das Lisa'l in Zell am Ziller is ideal for families: spacious apartments with separate bedrooms, fully equipped kitchens and plenty of room to play. The free parking right at the house and the central location make family life uncomplicated.
